We study the tones that will occupy the top positions in decoration during 2023, some with more prominence than others but all of them always add a plus of style. And we tell you how to combine them.

If you like decoration, you will be looking forward to knowing the trends of 2023 and, of course, what will be the colors that we will see in our world of interior design: those from other seasons that refuse to leave and those that come to the fore with a desire for novelty.

Undoubtedly, the colors that accompany us each year are a faithful reflection of the socio-cultural circumstances we live in, as well as the answer to questions of a different nature that seek a response on a material and aesthetic level. And it is that the colors that surround us influence our well-being and, therefore, in the world of fashion such as art or decoration. Thus, for example, the color of the walls influences the emotions of those who live between them.

In the field of interior design, we use direct sources in the sector to discover the colors that we will see in the near future. Thus, the best furniture firms and international design fairs help us discover the color palettes that are trending, as well as the color combinations that always work in decoration. Events such as Salone del Mobile Milano, Maison Objet in Paris, Stockholm Design Week or London Design Festival guide us and show the palette that will direct the interior design projects each year.

But also some brands specialized in color will be key when it comes to discovering the color palette that will guide us each year. We are talking about paint firms such as Bruguer, which releases a favorite color every year. For the last 20 years, Bruguer's color professionals have been analyzing global circumstances to find a Color of the Year that fits the mood of the moment. The shade for 2023 is Wild Wheat™, a bright, positive hue inspired by the natural world. Also, Pantone, the company founded in 1962, created a color identification system and selects the color of each year after an analysis of trends, combining different influences and lifestyles. These expert color brands will guide us when choosing the colors for our living room, the shades for your partitions and tiles, or the colors for sofas that will be a trend in 2023.

These last few years have turned out to be a turning point in our way of life, with important technological changes and lifestyles that, unsurprisingly, have directly affected the way we understand our homes and, therefore, the way we decorate them.

We are going to see the six colors that will burst onto the stage this coming 2023:

1- WILD WHEAT. THE MOST NATURAL

This natural hue that evokes the fields golden by the Sun has been chosen by the firm Bruguer as the Color of the Year 2023. Warm, cozy, and with many combination possibilities, especially with earth tones, but also with a wide range of blue, pink or green. In general, for this 2023 Bruguer is committed to soft, warm colors that create very natural welcoming spaces.

2- EMERALD GREEN

Although it is true that we have seen a whole range of greens during 2022, this year we will find an intense green, in totally green spaces or combined with others in its family. It is elegant, formal and serious if we combine it with cream, black or blue tones (camels will be one of its allies); but if you combine it with vitamin colors, such as orange or fuchsia, the effect will be groundbreaking! Attention to the green bathrooms, covered in this color from top to bottom, which is very trendy.

3- A NEW INTENSE BLUE FOR THE HOUSE

Blue has come to stay in all its versions. Last year, the Bruguer firm presented Aire Fresco as the color of 2022. It was a light blue tone that reminds us of the sky with mist and that spoke of new illusions. We could also see that English blue and greyish blue triumphed by filling Nordic or classic spaces to give them a touch of relevance. But in 2023 a more intense, deeper, and more melancholic blue will arrive. We will see it in fashion stores but also in decoration, as we were able to verify it at the Milan Furniture Fair 2022. And it is that decorating with electric blue can be a success if you know how to find the exact measure. Try combining it with whites, grays, and natural woods.

4- PREMIERE: DIGITAL LAVENDER (+ RANGE OF PURPLE)

Hand in hand with Pantone, in 2022 we discovered the Very Peri fashion color, which burst into decoration with resounding success. It was a violet that starts from a blue tone with a red hue. In 2023 there will be an evolution towards a sweeter violet that will bring us calm and illusion at home. It coordinates well with whites, sands, and grays as you can see in these examples, and has been named Digital Lavender by Pantone. Of course, for the most daring, the intense purple will continue to stand, combined with oranges and fuchsias in small doses.

5- ENTER THE COLOR TOPAZ

Mustard colors will be a must in next year's decoration. We have already seen it in recent years, although this time it will be more sophisticated and elegant, with a toasted point and golden sparkles. Professionals choose it for upholstery, bedding, or lampshades, but also coverings and furniture – even in the kitchen. It is also an option with which to update the classic style in rooms that have neutral and formal tones in the background.

6- VIVA MAGENTA, THE COLOR PROPOSED BY PANTONE

If the Very Peri color conquered 2022 for Pantone, this 2023 will be guided by a much more intense color: a very pink red that has been baptized Viva Magenta. It is a color that vibrates and is full of energy. Vibrant, fearless and brave. That is why in decoration you are going to see it firmly but in small, very balanced doses – except for the great professionals who know how to take risks.

7- BLUE GRAYS

Gray in a stone tone, extra soft and full of light, sneaks into homes to be combined with other neutral tones that provide the same serenity. No contrasts. You can combine it with other blues and grays of a more intense tone but without creating sudden changes. We love it with white and wild wheat. And it is that spaces decorated in gray are always elegant and bright if you know how to apply it well.

8- THE MANDARINE COLOR, IN MANY STORES

It might seem, at first glance, a difficult color to combine, but the truth is that this kind of color, in its most serene range, is in perfect harmony with the color of the year 2023, wild wheat. But it also coordinates wonderfully with wood and wrought iron furniture. You can introduce it in small doses through accessories such as cushions or bedspreads. Once you see the result, maybe you'll be encouraged

9- THE POWDERED PINK

And from the sweet tangerine we travel to a similar tone but with very different emotional nuances. And it is that this color has an extra luminosity and is very, very flirtatious. Decorating a bathroom or kitchen with pale pink may seem like a risky strategy, but the truth is that if it is combined with earth tones and gray it will always be a success. So we confirm it, pink is still worn and not only in children's rooms.

10- BEWARE OF RED, WHICH ARRIVES WITHOUT NOTICE

He made his entrance at the Milan Furniture Fair 2022 and was not exactly shy. We ran into him at many of the exhibitions at the fairgrounds, but also at events at the FuoriSalone. And how is this decoration presented in red? Well, in a ripe tomato tone, in small and not-so-small doses, staining furniture or walls and, in addition, giving life to art. Breaking rules and taking risks, on neutral and serene backgrounds. Try gray and blue, although light and varnished wood is the best ally as you can see in these images. You dare?
